  • Yoo has over 18 years’ M&A and corporate strategy experience across four firms.

VIG Partners announced on September 4 that it had appointed Yoo Shin-hyuk, formerly of Boston Consulting Group (BCG), as deputy CEO and Kang Sung-wook, former GE HealthCare Asia-Pacific regional president, as a managing director. The appointments form part of a broader effort to reinforce both the investment and portfolio operations organizations through senior recruitment, expanded internal responsibilities and stronger junior- and mid-level staffing. Yoo brings more than 18 years of M&A advisory and corporate strategy experience from Deutsche Bank, Valtech, Roland Berger and BCG, and will focus on sourcing investments, reviewing opportunities and managing the portfolio. Kang has approximately 40 years of experience, including leadership roles at GE HealthCare, Cisco Systems and GE Korea, and will support overseas investment evaluation, portfolio companies’ international expansion and cross-border M&A. Managing directors Kang Ki-jung, Kim Kyu-myung and Bae Jong-hyun will lead investment sourcing and portfolio management alongside CEO Shin Chang-hoon and Yoo. Son Deok-soo, a KAIST graduate, startup founder and former McKinsey consultant and VIG Partners employee, has joined as a director to strengthen industry analysis and value-creation execution. Shin said the changes would help institutionalize a team-based operating system and broaden VIG’s domestic and international deal-sourcing and portfolio support capabilities.
