South Korea’s Technology Special Listing program has taken 300 companies onto the KOSDAQ market since its introduction in March 2005, with medical device maker Skylabs becoming the latest entrant on the 4th. Initially focused on biotechnology, the track now covers artificial intelligence, semiconductors, space, defense and other deep-tech fields. The 300 companies have raised a combined 8 trillion won through IPOs, while their market value at listing reached 7.88 trillion won in 2025, or 52.4% of new KOSDAQ listings. As of Sept. 4, current-year technology special listings represented 62.0% of the market capitalization of new KOSDAQ listings excluding SPACs. Their market capitalization has increased an average of 147% since debut, led by Alteogen’s 14,665% increase. The Korea Exchange is tightening post-listing oversight and investor-protection requirements, including rules linked to value-up disclosures.
