Hanwha Aerospace plans to sign a €435.2 million export contract with Croatia on the 8th for 18 Chunmoo multiple rocket launchers and guided munitions, with deliveries scheduled over two years from 2028. The deal, worth about $506.3 million, would mark the company’s first entry into Croatia’s defense market and make Croatia the fourth European Chunmoo operator after Poland, Estonia and Norway. Croatia is replacing Soviet-era artillery amid security concerns linked to the Russia-Ukraine war and tensions with Serbia. Its defense spending totaled €1.8 billion, or 2.01% of GDP, last year, with targets of 2.5% in 2027, 3% in 2030 and 5% in 2032. Croatia also reinstated conscription this year after abolishing it in 2008 and is considering South Korea’s Cheongung-II medium-range surface-to-air missile system through discussions with LIG Nex1.
