Filecoin said vesting tied to Protocol Labs and the Filecoin Foundation will end on Oct. 15, cutting annual new FIL supply by about 75%. About 66.7 million FIL currently enters circulation each year through vesting, compared with about 21.7 million FIL in block rewards. After vesting ends, annual new supply will be limited to roughly 22 million FIL, slightly more than 2% of current circulating supply. Net supply growth could fall further through token burns and collateral deposits. Filecoin said simulations showed daily net supply growth by the end of 2027 could be 86% to 119% lower than in August 2026, although it stressed the figures were not forecasts. The shift comes as Filecoin develops demand-side initiatives including FIP-0118 Solstice, rising Filecoin On-Chain Cloud revenue and the Fil One enterprise storage service.
