U.S. stock futures were broadly flat on Thursday evening as investors awaited Friday’s August nonfarm payrolls report, a key indicator of labor-market health and the Federal Reserve’s next policy move. S&P 500 Futures slipped to 7,752.25 points, while Nasdaq 100 Futures were little changed. Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said recent data showed encouraging signs of disinflation and indicated he would favor keeping rates unchanged at the Sept. 15-16 policy meeting if inflation continues to cool. Similar caution from New York Fed President John Williams helped reduce the market-implied probability of a 25-basis-point rate hike this month to around 50% from nearly 65%. Lululemon Athletica shares fell about 18% in extended trading after the company lowered its full-year forecasts again and reported quarterly sales below expectations. Incoming CEO Heidi O’Neill will be responsible for reviving the brand, refreshing its products and competing for shoppers in a more crowded athleticwear market. Adobe named Anil Chakravarthy as its next president and chief executive officer, succeeding longtime CEO Shantanu Narayen on Dec. 1. Chakravarthy will join Adobe’s board, while Narayen will become executive chair and assist with the transition. The change comes as Adobe seeks to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply into its creativity, productivity and customer-experience products. OpenAI also introduced GPT-6 Astra, first offering it to enterprise customers with daybreak access before expanding availability to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users, as well as through the OpenAI API and AWS. Standard API pricing was set at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. Investors are assessing how AI competition could affect demand for cloud computing, data centers, semiconductors and software, as more capable models may support infrastructure demand while lower prices and stronger competition could pressure margins.
