The Financial Supervisory Service labor union submitted a petition to Cheong Wa Dae on the 4th opposing plans to relocate the FSS and financial public institutions to regional areas. Chairman Kim Sang-woo delivered the petition, signed by 1,720 internal members, to President Lee Jae Myung. The union argues that concentrating institutions in Seoul, including Yeouido, supports information sharing, financial competitiveness and responses to consumer harm. It cited an internal survey showing high potential departure rates among younger employees and specialized staff if relocation is formalized. The government announced the Second Central Administrative Agency Relocation Plan the previous day, naming the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family for relocation in the first half of next year. The Financial Services Commission was not explicitly named but is considered highly likely to appear in a year-end announcement, raising the prospect of stronger opposition from the FSS and financial public institutions.
