Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman is facing criticism from Democratic lawmakers and activists after Wall Street Journal reporting described an increasingly dysfunctional operation, staff churn and alleged lapses in Senate duties. The reporting, based on internal records, text messages and interviews with more than a dozen former aides and lawmakers and other sources, said Fetterman showed little interest in meeting constituents, attending in-state events or sitting through Senate hearings. It also said he focused much of his attention on backing Israel and appearing on Fox News, while becoming increasingly distant from fellow Democrats. Pennsylvania state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta, a vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, called the report horrifying and said, "2028 can’t come soon enough." A pivotal election could give Fetterman significant influence in Congress.
