US stock futures showed little movement Friday as investors awaited the government’s August employment report, due at 8:30 a.m. ET. Nasdaq 100 futures rose about 0.5%, S&P 500 futures edged higher and Dow Jones futures fell 37 to 47 points, or roughly 0.1%. Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller indicated he favored pausing rate adjustments, helping reduce expectations for a September increase. CME Group trading data showed roughly even odds of a hike next month. The 10-year Treasury yield fell 1 basis point to 4.76%. Economists projected August payroll growth of 55,000 to 65,000, while a Coin Bureau post cited market expectations of 53,000 to 56,000 jobs, following July’s 23,000 decline, and an unemployment rate of 4.2%. UBS Global Wealth Management chief investment officer Mark Haefele said the Fed’s decision was "finely balanced," with artificial intelligence infrastructure investment, economic resilience and moderating inflation potentially supporting unchanged policy. Lululemon fell 18% in early trading after lowering its revenue and earnings outlook and reporting disappointing second-quarter performance. Gold declined 0.56% to about $4,514, Bitcoin rose 3.26% to slightly above $81,187 and West Texas Intermediate crude fell 0.48% to roughly $90.86 per barrel. The employment report remained the main market catalyst heading into the weekend, ahead of the Fed’s next policy meeting.
