SoFi Technologies and Payward, the parent company of Kraken, announced a strategic partnership on Sept. 3, linking SoFi’s regulated banking and payments infrastructure with Kraken’s digital-asset markets. Kraken will list SoFiUSD, the U.S. dollar payment stablecoin issued by SoFi Bank, N.A., while SoFi will route digital-asset order flow through Kraken Prime’s multi-venue execution system. Payward is joining the SoFi Exchange Network’s real-time settlement rails, and Kraken Prime’s institutional and business clients will gain access to SoFi’s Big Business Banking and round-the-clock settlement network. SoFiUSD began funding and trading on Kraken on Sept. 4, 2026, with Ethereum and Solana supported, while Kraken App and Instant Buy availability remains dependent on sufficient liquidity. The token is intended for payments and settlement, not investment; SoFi Bank maintains reserves intended to at least match outstanding supply, but SOFID is not a deposit, is not insured by the FDIC or SIPC, is not legal tender and pays no interest or yield. SoFi has 15.8 million members, and the partnership gives its app users access to deeper liquidity than a single order book. Kraken Prime, launched in 2025, uses smart order routing to compare prices and market depth across supported venues. The arrangement extends Kraken’s institutional relationships and reflects the broader integration of digital-asset infrastructure with traditional financial products.
