U.S. President Donald Trump praised August employment data after nonfarm payrolls rose by 162,000, nearly three times the market forecast of 55,000. The unemployment rate held at 4.1%. Trump again urged the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates, arguing that the United States has stronger credit and should have lower borrowing costs than any other country. He also said the U.S. could halt trade with countries where it runs trade deficits if rates are not reduced, and has criticized Fed leaders for imposing an unfair competitive burden through high rates.
