President Donald Trump said he expects to direct roughly $400 million to $500 million from his political operation to Republican House and Senate races, with less than two months before the 2026 midterms. He said he would choose recipients based on their prospects and retain some resources for future political activity, including 2028. Trump said his operation had close to $1 billion available, though MAGA Inc.'s latest Federal Election Commission filing listed $403.45 million in cash as of July 31. The super PAC has disbursed about $21 million since the start of 2025, including $1.7 million in independent expenditures, CNBC reported. Its cash balance exceeds that of major party committees, according to the Associated Press. Separately, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) reportedly met with Elon Musk, who is said to be planning more than $100 million in midterm backing for at least eight GOP candidates through America PAC. Musk donated more than $250 million to Trump's 2024 reelection effort.
