21Shares is joining the Stacks Genesis Bond with its own Bitcoin treasury, while StackingDAO has quickly filled a 150 BTC pool, signaling interest in native Bitcoin yield through the Stacks Layer 2 ecosystem. The broader PoX-5 program targets roughly 3,000 BTC, with an initial annual percentage yield of approximately 3%. The Genesis Bond lets holders lock Bitcoin on Bitcoin’s Layer 1 while pairing it with STX on Stacks, without bridging or transferring custody to a third party. StackingDAO is also preparing stBTC, a liquid staking token designed to compound sBTC rewards and remain usable across Stacks DeFi applications. The Genesis Bond is scheduled to launch on September 10, 2026, with the first bonding period expected in October, followed by a planned transition to the permissionless PoX-6 auction mechanism.
