A&S Resources Limited has secured $6 billion in railway financing from the Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) for an approximately 1,350-kilometer link connecting its mineral assets in the landlocked Central African Republic (CAR) through Cameroon to international markets via the deep-water Port of Kribi. The dual-track heavy-haul railway is designed to carry 250,000 tonnes of cargo daily, with capacity expandable to 300,000 tonnes. It is intended to overcome a major infrastructure constraint on developing A&S Resources’ CAR assets, which have resource potential exceeding 20 billion tonnes of predominantly high-grade iron ore and an estimated gross in-situ value of approximately $2.5 trillion. The company also holds critical minerals, rare earth elements, copper and other strategic resources in the region. Topographical and technical studies have begun, with commissioning planned for the end of 2026. The railway is being developed with China Railway Sixth Group Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China Railway Group Limited.
