Router Protocol will end all operations by Sept. 30, 2026, closing more than four years of cross-chain development after declining bridge revenue, persistent costs, scarce Web3 liquidity and unsuccessful commercialization, licensing and acquisition talks left it without a sustainable funding path. The latest shutdown statement is dated Sept. 5, following an earlier account dated Sept. 4. Router plans to permanently burn 303,333,198 treasury ROUTE tokens, representing more than 30% of the token’s 1 billion maximum supply, and will coordinate with centralized exchanges on delistings and platform-specific withdrawal deadlines. It has not announced a buyer, replacement operator or community-led successor, and says no new ROUTE-related products or incentive programs will be introduced. ROUTE fell to $0.00003970, a new all-time low, during the selloff. Router also plans to release selected technical components as open-source software after the shutdown.
