The FBI seized more than $560,000 in cryptocurrency destined for Hamas and took control of domains and servers allegedly used by the group to raise money and recruit supporters. The Justice Department said the court-backed operation targeted an encrypted group chat, a fundraising website and rotating cryptocurrency addresses associated with infrastructure controlled on behalf of Hamas’s military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades. Investigators used human sources, blockchain tracing, exchange information and seized infrastructure to identify and intercept the funds, while obtaining information about thousands of people who contacted Hamas about donating through cryptocurrency or traditional means. The seizures expanded on an initial $200,000 action announced in March 2025 and followed other U.S. and international efforts targeting Hamas-linked financial channels.
