Bitcoin holders whose coins had remained untouched for more than five years lifted their 90-day average of spent transaction outputs to about 1,500 BTC as the cryptocurrency hovered around $80,000 without a sustained breakout. CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost linked the increased activity among older holders to uncertainty during the consolidation period, though spent outputs confirm onchain movement rather than sales. Long-Term Holder Binary Coin Days Destroyed, which tracks movement of dormant coins held for at least 155 days, fell from 0.85 on Aug. 25 to 0.14, indicating fewer such coins have moved in recent weeks. Spot-market data also showed accumulation: netflow reached negative $252.40 million on Sept. 4 after $2.81 billion in accumulation, before easing to about negative $4.03 million by midday on Sept. 5. Transfers by old holders can reflect exchange deposits and profit-taking, but also wallet migrations, custody changes or consolidation, including activity connected to the Coldcard security incident.
