Ethereum has moved EIP-8141 to Scheduled status for inclusion in the 2027 Hegotá hard fork, introducing Frame Transactions and a transaction model intended to improve wallet, dApp and smart-contract interactions. Co-authored by Vitalik Buterin and several core contributors, the proposal was first put forward on January 29, 2026. A single transaction can contain up to 64 programmable frames, each operating in DEFAULT, VERIFY or SENDER mode within one atomic execution. The design supports native account abstraction, gas sponsorship, atomic batching, ERC-20 fee payments and temporary transaction-specific accounts, while complementing ERC-4337 and EIP-7702. In a recent X post, Buterin said discussions around EIP-8141, UTXO, Keyed Nonces and recursive STARK Mempool models have helped Ethereum distinguish transaction actions from dependencies. Some dependencies could be processed in parallel or verified once at the Mempool layer, reducing repeated execution and data-processing costs. Buterin also said Ethereum's flexible, dynamic execution and state model is favored by developers but is not well suited to large-scale scaling; more than 90% of activity by transaction count does not require that flexibility. He said contracts, accounts and transactions could eventually declare which components need dynamic execution and which can be analyzed statically, with lower Gas costs and greater scalability for the latter. Buterin described a well-implemented EIP-8141 as both the culmination of a decade of Ethereum account-abstraction work and preparation for decentralized Hyper-scaling in the coming years.
