South Korean retail investors sold major U.S.-listed semiconductor stocks between Sept. 1 and Sept. 4 while buying $430.95 million of SOXL, an ETF designed to deliver three times the daily return of the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index. Net selling included more than $100 million of Micron, $68.61 million of SanDisk, $49.37 million of Marvell Technology, $15.56 million of Nvidia and $46.16 million of SK hynix American depositary receipts. The SK hynix selling reversed $810.97 million of buying since the ADRs began trading in New York in July through the end of August. Investors also bought SGOV, IonQ, JEPQ and Merck. The trading pattern reflects profit-taking and reduced single-stock exposure amid concerns that recent chip gains could peak, while maintaining a leveraged sector-wide position tied to continued artificial intelligence and semiconductor growth.
