President Lee Jae Myung departed South Korea on Sunday for a four-day visit to France that will include a summit with French President Emmanuel Macron on strengthening cooperation in security, the economy and other areas. Lee will first travel to Nice to attend the Lumiere Summit on the future of cinema in nearby Saint-Paul-de-Vence, before beginning a two-day state visit to Paris on Tuesday. The visit follows Macron's trip to South Korea in April and comes as the countries mark 140 years of diplomatic relations. In Paris, Lee is scheduled to hold a one-on-one luncheon with Macron, summit talks and a dinner banquet hosted by Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, at the Élysée Palace. The leaders are expected to further develop the "global strategic partnership" established during Macron's Korea visit, including cooperation in security, the economy, people-to-people exchanges, culture, content, artificial intelligence and nuclear power. Possible discussions also include nuclear power plants and troop deployment to the Strait of Hormuz. Lee will separately attend a business roundtable involving 20 companies from both countries. First lady Kim Hea Kyung accompanied Lee.
