LG Electronics is seeking robot-actuator orders from multiple global big tech companies as it expands business-to-business operations beyond consumer appliances. Its shares rose 8.68% to 219,000 Korean won on the KOSPI at 9:14 a.m. on the 7th after investors responded to the potential deals. Baek Seung-tae, Head of the Home Appliance Solution (HS) Business Division (Vice President), said the company plans meetings with prospective customers next month to assess technology and production readiness. LG launched its LG AXIUM actuator brand earlier this year, is mass-producing initial quantities at its Changwon, Gyeongnam, factory and plans broader mass-production capability by year-end, including an automated line. Actuators can represent approximately 60% to 70% of a humanoid robot's production or material costs, and LG expects actuator sales to reach the scale of its external compressor supply business within one to two years. B2B accounts for just over 10% of HS division sales, supported by growing North American builder and commercial-laundry operations, while LG is expanding its European builder business and maintaining its goal of becoming Europe's top appliance brand by 2030.
