Bitcoin held near $80,000 after reaching $82,320 on Sept. 3, with Bitfinex placing the token in a roughly $77,200-$82,100 trading range. The exchange said U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF inflows and expanding stablecoin supply have supported prices, but higher short-term Treasury yields and rising expectations of tighter Federal Reserve policy have limited further upside. U.S. nonfarm payrolls rose by 162,000 in August, exceeding expectations and lifting the probability of a September Federal Reserve rate increase above 66%, Bitfinex said. Earlier Bitfinex analysis had put the likelihood at about 60%, while previous CME FedWatch readings cited in coverage showed a 58.4% probability of a quarter-point increase. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs received $986.7 million of net inflows last week, extending institutional demand that has helped offset macroeconomic and liquidity risks. Bitfinex said Bitcoin is likely to continue trading sideways unless it breaks decisively above $82,100, the upper boundary of its short-term range. Bitcoin had recorded its first weekly close above $80,000 in several months, although CryptoQuant said the preceding advance was driven largely by futures activity rather than spot buying. Treasury yields, inflation data, ETF flows, derivatives positioning and global liquidity conditions remain important market drivers.
