Router Protocol plans to cease operations by Sept. 30, 2026, ending more than four years of cross-chain development that included a bridge, Router Nitro across more than 60 chains, cross-chain messaging and an intent-based transaction system. The Coinbase Ventures-backed project plans to permanently burn 303,333,198 ROUTE described as pending in its treasury, but has not identified the source wallets, execution date or burn mechanism. CoinGecko lists three Ethereum addresses with balances that total the planned burn amount, although Router did not link those wallets to the proposal. DefiLlama recorded $9,879.92 in total value locked, mostly on Aurora, and no bridge volume over the previous 30 completed days at its reporting cutoff. Centralized-exchange holders must follow each venue's delisting and withdrawal timetable, while the notice gives no separate withdrawal schedule for bridge-contract assets or liquidity-provider positions. Router cited compressed bridge economics and unsuccessful commercialization, licensing and acquisition efforts, and said it will not launch a new ROUTE-related program.
