A Bitcoin wallet created on July 9, 2016, transferred 1,260.77 BTC at block height 965,770 to an unknown P2WPKH address. The holdings were worth about $819,500.50 when Bitcoin closed at $650 on the creation date, compared with more than $100 million at $79,733, representing a gain of 11,366.15%. The move followed renewed dormant-bitcoin activity after a 2010 whale became active on Sept. 5. Nearly 75 one-BTC Casascius coins were also redeemed during the first six days of September, including 14 on Sept. 3, about 15 on Sept. 4 and 40 on Sept. 5. Casascius coins, made by Mike Caldwell from 2011 to 2013, contain digital Bitcoin that can be spent after their holographic stickers are removed.
