Xverse, a self-custodial Bitcoin wallet, has launched enrollment for a pooled staking product that offers Bitcoin-denominated yields without transferring users’ Bitcoin to a third party. The product uses sBTC, a Bitcoin-backed asset on Stacks, paired with STX during a PoX-5 bond period, while the underlying Bitcoin remains on Bitcoin’s Layer 1 under users’ control. The pool went live on Sept. 7, with rewards expected around Sept. 10 near Bitcoin block 966,350, the start of Stacks reward cycle 143; enrollment closes on or before Sept. 9 or when capacity is reached. The product is available through Xverse v2.9 to users holding sBTC and STX, subject to capacity. Initial anchor participants include UTXO, a subsidiary of Nakamoto Inc., HashKey Cloud and 21shares. Xverse says it has managed a non-custodial STX stacking pool whose holdings reached approximately 152 million STX. The product carries smart-contract risk on Stacks, risks linked to the relative novelty of sBTC and exposure to STX, and may be restricted in some jurisdictions.
