OpenAI has issued a one-time, global usage reset to all paid subscribers so users who exhausted their allowances can continue running GPT-6 Astra. The move follows community complaints that Astra consumes quotas unusually quickly: one Plus user said about 30 minutes of use depleted a week’s allowance, while another reported hitting the five-hour limit with a single task. Tibo Sottiaux, OpenAI’s core product lead, had said the previous day that subscription quota consumption in heavy-use scenarios had been reduced to roughly one-third to one-quarter of its prior level. The update follows OpenAI’s phased Astra rollout and an earlier dispute over whether a Codex quota reset card provided only half the normal weekly allowance. In that comparison, both periods used 14% of the weekly quota, while the earlier period involved about 114 million input tokens and 738 model responses, compared with 63.6 million tokens and 489 responses afterward. The user said the comparison was not controlled because reasoning levels and Agent usage differed; Tibo rejected the estimate and said the available quota was unchanged.
