Slovakia recorded a EUR 0.8 million trade deficit in July 2026, its first since January, as imports rose 9.4% to EUR 9,062.8 million and exceeded exports of EUR 9,062.0 million. The result compared with a EUR 216.5 million surplus a year earlier and missed expectations for a EUR 96.2 million surplus, although Slovakia's January-July trade surplus widened year-on-year. Germany's exports fell 0.8% in July to €138.2 billion, while a 5.7% import decline lifted its reported surplus to €21.3 billion, though a later import figure did not reconcile with that balance. France's deficit widened to €6.7 billion as imports outpaced exports, and Greece's shortfall rose to EUR 3.1 billion from EUR 3.0 billion a year earlier.
