Only about 50 of the 435 House races on the November 3 U.S. midterm ballot are expected to be competitive, but they could determine whether Democrats gain the three seats needed to take control from Republicans. Key contests are concentrated in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin. Redistricting has reshaped several battlegrounds, with Republican-led maps creating opportunities to gain seats in Florida and Texas while California’s response could help Democrats target Republicans. Candidates are also campaigning on immigration, tariffs, farm costs, fuel and fertilizer prices, and local political records.
