Metaplanet shares closed at ¥244 on Sept. 8, down about 10%, as concerns over CEO Simon Gerovich's stock-rights compensation and his connection to shareholder MMXX Ventures weighed on the Bitcoin treasury company's stock. The decline followed a 7.51% drop to ¥271 on Sept. 7, while the shares had traded near ¥255 earlier in the Sept. 8 Tokyo session. Gerovich said Metaplanet had already ended the automatic expansion mechanism in its Series 10 Stock Acquisition Rights program and imposed a five-year transfer restriction on shares issued through the arrangement. He also said he is a significant but non-majority shareholder in MMXX's parent company, does not manage MMXX and has no role in its investment or trading decisions. Metaplanet fixed the program's remaining potential issuance at 319,464,000 shares on Aug. 18, but shareholders continue to seek more disclosure and a reduction in the potential reward-share pool.
