Sweden has approved the purchase of more than 10 US-made HIMARS firing units and GMLRS ammunition in a deal worth more than 7 billion Swedish kronor, or nearly $750 million. The first systems are expected to arrive next year, giving the Swedish army a longer-range strike capability. Saab and Lockheed Martin also signed a letter of intent to produce Precision Strike Missile ammunition in Sweden amid a global shortage of HIMARS ammunition. The missiles can reach targets up to 500 kilometers, while Sweden and Finland will deepen cooperation on training and technical maintenance.
