The Asia-Pacific Media Forum opened in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, on September 5, bringing together more than 400 representatives from across the Asia-Pacific region, United Nations agencies and international organizations. Held ahead of the APEC summit in China in November 2026, the forum and related visits across Guangdong examined whether China’s manufacturing rise displaces other economies or creates opportunities through supply chains, investment and regional cooperation. China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. (CSG) presented its Greater Bay Area power network and Asia-Pacific energy-connectivity efforts, citing electricity consumption above 700 TWh, renewable capacity above 93 GW and 17 high-voltage links with Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar. CSG said cross-border electricity exchanges have exceeded 84 TWh, with clean energy accounting for more than 90% of the total.
