Tennessee linebacker Arion Carter will donate $427 for every tackle this season to help cover cancer patients’ bills, turning the NCAA suspension that sidelined him for the Volunteers’ opener into a charitable campaign. He will also give $500 per sack, $1,000 per interception or forced fumble and $5,000 per defensive touchdown. The donations will support charities including Sisters Network Nashville, with fundraising coordinated through his mother’s nonprofit, Girls in Real Life Situations. Carter said his girlfriend, Mariah Bryant, who is battling breast cancer, inspired the effort. He is scheduled to make his season debut Saturday night at Georgia Tech after missing No. 20 Tennessee’s 56-9 win over Furman. Carter was suspended after receiving an improper benefit: a $427 plane ticket to an NFL pre-draft training facility paid for by his agent, which Carter repaid afterward. He withdrew from the 2026 NFL Draft to return to Knoxville. In 2025, he led the Southeastern Conference with 7.6 tackles per game and earned all-conference honors.
