The Ethereum Foundation has published the results of its review of Hegotá, a planned major Ethereum network upgrade. Protocol Cluster assessed 62 Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), with about 60 researchers, engineers and domain experts from nine teams submitting 397 evaluation comments. Some controversial proposals were also discussed in face-to-face meetings. The assessment is Protocol Cluster’s first unified EIP rating list for a single Ethereum upgrade. A separate Foundation study identified making Ethereum Layer 1 (the network’s base settlement layer) resilient to quantum computers by December 2029 as a key protocol-layer priority. The Foundation said Hegotá’s scope reflects Protocol Cluster’s long-term technical commitments and shared priorities among its teams. The ratings are expected to help determine which proposals are included in the upgrade.
