The Big 12 Conference has dropped its federal lawsuit against member institution Texas Tech, according to multiple media reports. Filed in June, the case had remained largely dormant for months and sought to stop Red Raiders quarterback Brendan Sorsby from pursuing eligibility for the 2026 season. Sorsby, who transferred from Cincinnati this offseason, was ruled ineligible by the NCAA in April after acknowledging more than 9,000 bets totaling over $90,000 on professional and college sports during his collegiate career, violating NCAA by-laws. After the Big 12 filed its suit, Sorsby withdrew his own lawsuit against the NCAA and declared for the NFL’s supplemental draft, which the league chose not to hold this year. ESPN reported that all issues connected with the Big 12’s lawsuit were resolved internally.
