More than 100 altcoins listed on South Korean exchanges Korbit and Coinone recorded no trades during a 24-hour period, while many others posted volumes below 10,000 won. As of 2 p.m. on the previous day, roughly 80 of Korbit’s approximately 190 supported assets had zero volume, compared with about 130 of Coinone’s roughly 360 assets. The exchanges’ fee-free campaigns lifted total volume but concentrated activity in stablecoins, whose share reached 86.0% of Korbit’s volume and 54.4% of Coinone’s from Aug. 12 to Sept. 3. Thin liquidity left some prices frozen at outdated levels, producing gaps of as much as 19.8% between exchanges.
