Samsung SDS plans to invest a total of 10 trillion won through 2031 in artificial intelligence, robotics and logistics, supported by 1.2 trillion won in newly secured funds through cooperation with KKR and 6.6 trillion won in cash and cash equivalents. The company has formally entered the Robot Transformation, or RX, business and plans to unveil a robot orchestration platform next year as Samsung Group broadens its robotics strategy from hardware into physical AI control systems. The platform is designed to assign tasks, monitor operations and coordinate humanoids, autonomous mobile robots and collaborative robots alongside production equipment through one system. Samsung SDS will initially target about 1,000 worksites at major Samsung affiliates, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung Heavy Industries and Samsung E&A, before expanding to roughly 430 outside manufacturers that use its manufacturing execution system. The U.S. market is also a target as manufacturing activity returns there. Samsung SDS has assembled Team REX, a 10-company robotics partnership spanning robot hardware, intelligence, data and simulation. The group includes Walden Robotics, in which Samsung Venture Investment made a strategic investment in June, and Wuji Technology, a Chinese specialist in robot hands and end-effectors. Samsung SDS is also joining OpenAI's Daybreak Partner Program as its first Korean pilot partner and is working with Anthropic to identify new AI Transformation businesses.
