Yoo Jae-hoon assumed office as the Korea Insurance Development Institute’s 14th president on September 8, beginning work without a separate inauguration ceremony. He plans to review 2026 business initiatives and hear directly from industry participants. Yoo said climate change, natural disasters, international conflicts, supply-chain instability and artificial intelligence (AI) are creating a new inflection point for insurance. He outlined four priorities: strengthening AI-based risk assessment, expanding KIDI’s expert and data-based mediation role, improving services such as Silson24, and supporting South Korean insurers’ overseas expansion. KIDI calculates and verifies insurance premium rates and manages insurance statistics. Yoo previously served in senior roles at the Financial Services Commission and the Korea Financial Intelligence Unit.
