Samsung Electronics has agreed to take an equity stake in Mistral AI and jointly develop artificial intelligence systems for semiconductor design and manufacturing. Mistral said it raised €3 billion ($3.5 billion) in its latest funding round, led by Samsung, though Samsung did not disclose the size of its investment or its ownership stake. The companies will combine Samsung Device Solutions division data with Mistral large language models to create tools tailored to semiconductor work. Samsung plans to operate the models on its internal servers and data centers, keeping sensitive chip information within its own infrastructure, before deploying the systems in stages for data analysis, defect prediction and manufacturing-process optimization. Samsung intends to expand the cooperation across its memory, foundry and logic operations and jointly build a semiconductor-focused AI platform and operating system with Mistral. The partnership extends Samsung's recent AI-industry investments and links Mistral's on-premises AI offering to one of the world's largest chipmakers.
