San-in Godo Bank aims to issue digital corporate bonds by the end of fiscal 2026, which would be a first for a Japanese regional bank if realized. The bank is working with NTT Data and Securitize Japan on a platform that would initially allow San-in Godo Bank to act as issuer of bond-type security tokens, then support fundraising by regional companies and local governments. The proposed self-offering model would let the issuer sell directly to investors without a securities firm, while investors could apply through bank accounts without opening securities accounts. The initial issuance is expected to total several hundred million yen, or about $1 million to $2 million, with investments starting at tens of thousands of yen. The platform would combine NTT Data's Regional Bank Shared Center, used by 13 regional banks, with Securitize's digital-securities infrastructure. San-in Godo Bank estimates potential annual issuance demand of tens of billions of yen from about 10 prospective client companies. The project remains in an early review phase, with implementation and issuance subject to regulatory confirmation and internal procedures.
