Pump.fun has reclaimed the top spot in 24-hour protocol revenue from Pons, a newer memecoin launchpad that briefly led the market earlier in 2026. In early September 2026, Pump.fun generated roughly $1.23 million in fees during a single 24-hour period. Pons launched on July 13, 2026, and became a serious rival in less than two months despite Pump.fun’s two-and-a-half-year head start. Operating on Robinhood Chain’s layer-2 network, Pons kept trading costs close to negligible and paid token creators 70% of a 1% trading fee on transactions involving their tokens. At its peak, Pons sometimes generated more than $4 million in daily fees. Pump.fun’s longer operating history remains a key advantage: since launching in January 2024, it has accumulated more than $1.2 billion in revenue. Its bonding-curve model raises token prices along a predetermined mathematical curve as demand increases, after which tokens reaching a specified market-cap threshold move liquidity to PumpSwap, its integrated decentralized exchange. Pump.fun also uses part of its protocol revenue to buy PUMP tokens on the open market and remove them from circulation through a buyback-and-burn program.
