Bit2Me, Spain’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has established Bit2Shield, legally registered as CryptoShield S.L., to help courts, police and financial institutions trace, seize, store and sell cryptocurrency. The unit will extract wallet data, locate assets, produce digitally signed forensic reports for court use, investigate fraud, certify sources of funds and train police officers, judges and banks. Bit2Me said it processed €1.5 million ($1.74 million) in seized cryptocurrency in 2025 for agencies including Interpol, Europol and Spanish police, using Chainalysis to trace the assets before converting them into euros for the state. Bit2Shield will arrange multisignature cold-wallet custody and sales ordered by authorities, with proceeds transferred in euros to government bank accounts. Bit2Shield is not intended to operate as a crypto-asset service provider under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets rules; conversions will be handled by Bitcoinforme S.L., a Bit2Me entity authorized by Spain’s securities regulator. The initiative extends Bit2Me’s expansion into infrastructure for public bodies, banks and other institutions.
