The Cardano Foundation and Brazilian blockchain firm Blockforce have launched a supply-chain verification system that has anchored more than 500,000 records from Brazilian exporters on Cardano. Azzas 2154, Latin America’s largest fashion conglomerate, is the first major deployment and is using the platform to trace leather sourced through more than 6,200 suppliers. More than 95,000 invoices have already been processed in production. The system separates commercial data from public verification: supplier identities, contract terms and pricing remain on a permissioned Hyperledger Fabric network (restricted-access enterprise blockchain), while Cardano stores cryptographic proofs that authorized auditors can use to verify records without viewing confidential details. Blockforce’s uVerify batching protocol has reduced per-record anchoring costs by 92%. The parties’ contracted volume is 6.5 million records by 2030, with planned expansion into automotive and pharmaceutical supply chains. The system addresses compliance pressure from EU deforestation rules and corporate sustainability reporting requirements, which require companies selling into European markets to document that products are not linked to deforestation. For Cardano, the deployment provides an enterprise use case at production scale beyond pilot and proof-of-concept programs, while the planned expansion will test the platform in sectors with more complex regulatory and documentation requirements.
