BYD said on September 8 that reports claiming management had disclosed a backlog of approximately 250,000 vehicles supporting its super-fast charging technology were untrue. The reports also said capacity would be sufficient by the first quarter of 2027. BYD is nevertheless facing strong demand and capacity constraints for models using its second-generation Blade Battery and super-fast charging system, which launched in March 2026. The company expects overseas shipments to exceed 2.5 million vehicles in 2027, compared with an upgraded 2026 forecast of 1.9 million to 2 million. Overseas revenue reached CNY 181.268 billion, or approximately $27.1 billion, in the first half of 2026, representing 52.57% of total revenue and exceeding domestic revenue for the first time. BYD is expanding battery capacity, charging infrastructure, car-carrier capacity and overseas manufacturing to support growth, reduce freight costs and avoid import tariffs.
