Satellogic, Inc. has appointed Vice Admiral (Ret.) Frank D. "Trey" Whitworth as president, effective immediately. Reporting to CEO and Co-Founder Emiliano Kargieman, Whitworth will lead internal operations, integrate mission activities with sales and marketing, and shape the company’s defense and intelligence product strategy. The appointment comes as Satellogic expands its defense business and develops the Merlin constellation, initially planned with eight satellites to support daily global observations. The first Merlin satellite is scheduled to launch in October, with additional launches planned next year. Founded in 2010, Satellogic operates 18 Earth-imaging satellites, sells imagery to governments and companies, and provides satellite networks to countries developing sovereign systems. Whitworth led the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency from June 2022 to November 2025, overseeing its 16,000 staff, and previously helped expand the Pentagon’s Project Maven artificial intelligence program.
