The Bulat Utemuratov Foundation will provide 460 million tenge, approximately US$1 million, to support gasification of private homes in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Under a memorandum with the Almaty City Akimat (Mayor’s Office), the city will inspect residences, advise residents and support their connection to the natural-gas network, while qualified contractors complete construction and installation. The initiative is intended to improve urban infrastructure, household conditions and air quality by reducing the use of solid fuels during the heating season. It expands the foundation’s previous work in Almaty, including the reconstruction of the Botanical Garden, museum infrastructure upgrades, an Asyl Miras Autism Center and mobile PCR laboratories during the COVID-19 pandemic.
