Crypto companies and banking groups are mounting competing lobbying campaigns in senators' home states before the Senate's September 15, 2026 cloture vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, or CLARITY Act. Reuters reported that Stand With Crypto, backed by Coinbase, has mobilized its 3 million advocates through local opinion articles, events and nearly 50,000 calls or emails to Congress during August, while the Blockchain Association has built a digital outreach platform urging senators to support the bill. The industry says the legislation would clarify whether tokens are securities or commodities and establish the relevant regulator, while banks argue that stablecoin rewards and related provisions could pull funds from deposits and weaken lending. The Independent Community Bankers of America has organized meetings and advertising against the bill's current form. The lobbying push follows a seven-figure national cable campaign by the Fairshake-linked Cedar Innovation Foundation and comes as Democratic demands for ethics and anti-money-laundering safeguards, along with Republican concerns over bank competition, leave bipartisan support uncertain.
