ASML broke ground on September 8 on the BIC North production site near Eindhoven, a long-term expansion designed to increase capacity for extreme ultraviolet lithography systems amid strong demand linked to artificial intelligence. The approximately 35-hectare site near Eindhoven Airport is about 7 kilometers from ASML's headquarters and main production facilities in Veldhoven. The first phase is scheduled for completion in 2029 and will provide workspace for at least 3,000 employees; at full development, the site is planned to accommodate up to 20,000 workers across 350,000 square meters. A central Flow Factory will bring materials procurement, manufacturing and installation of TWINSCAN systems under one roof. ASML shipped 86 new lithography systems in the second quarter, up 28.4% from the previous quarter, and management is targeting a 30% increase in low-NA EUV capacity by 2027. The project will not ease near-term bottlenecks before operations begin in 2029. Shares closed about 2% higher at $1,751.66, or roughly ¥270,000, trading 40.87% above a GF Value estimate of approximately $1,240. Earlier project descriptions cited different site sizes, floor-space figures and dates, while existing plans also include regional infrastructure and workforce initiatives.
