Circle has added an upfront fee-payment option for Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol, or CCTP, Fast Transfer and Forwarding Service transactions, allowing recipients to receive the full USDC amount specified for a cross-chain transfer. Developers can request a signed, time-limited quote through Circle's Quote API and pay the fee in source-chain native gas or USDC before the transfer amount is burned. The feature is available for eligible EVM source chains, while Solana-originated transfers continue to use the default fee-deduction model; supported routes can still send USDC to Solana. Standard Transfer remains free at the protocol layer. Circle lists Fast Transfer fees from 0 to 13 basis points depending on the source chain, and says rates can change. The documentation also excludes USYC from upfront-fee support. CCTP processed more than $110 billion across 5.3 million transfers by November 2025, and DefiLlama showed hundreds of millions of dollars in recent daily CCTP volume, making precise destination amounts relevant to wallets, exchanges and payment applications.
