ApeX Protocol, a non-custodial decentralized exchange focused on perpetual derivatives, faced community allegations of a possible hack after about 8 million APEX tokens worth approximately $2 million were reportedly minted around midnight on Sept. 8 and moved to Bybit for sale. APEX fell about 32% on Bybit’s APEX/USDT spot market during the hour after 3:15 p.m. UTC that day. The protocol later corrected its token data to show a fixed 500 million APEX supply, approximately 146 million circulating tokens and no scheduled unlocks, while saying a Sept. 8, 2026, social-engineering incident affecting a Trade-to-Earn wallet did not compromise user funds, smart contracts or token-supply mechanics.
