HDFC Bank investors who purchased or otherwise acquired securities between July 17, 2023, and May 26, 2026, have until October 13, 2026, to seek appointment as lead plaintiff in a proposed securities class action. Rosen Law Firm, Glancy Prongay Wolke & Rotter LLP and the Law Offices of Frank R. Cruz issued notices concerning the case. The lawsuit follows Atanu Chakraborty’s March 18 resignation as HDFC Bank’s part-time Chairman and Independent Director and a May 27 Indian Express report alleging that the bank disguised approximately Rs 45 crore, or about $4.7 million, in payments to the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation as marketing or sponsorship spending to support higher deposit interest. HDFC’s American Depositary Shares fell 7.28% on March 18 and 4.1% on May 27, each on unusually heavy volume. The complaint alleges that HDFC Bank and its executives failed to disclose alleged payment practices, senior-management approval, possible regulatory and policy violations, and effects on reported interest income and operating expenses. No class has been certified, and investors may seek lead plaintiff status, retain counsel of their choice or remain absent class members without taking action.
