MoonPay’s European business received an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from the Dutch Central Bank on September 8, 2026. The authorization provides a regulated basis for offering payment accounts and related services to consumers and businesses, issuing stablecoins and developing card products from the Netherlands. It could also support euro-denominated and open-loop stablecoin products that circulate beyond a single merchant or platform. MoonPay already obtained a MiCAR Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) license in 2024. The company said it is the third Netherlands-based business to hold both permissions within one entity and the first in that group to combine them with open-loop stablecoin issuance capabilities, though those comparisons were not supported by a regulator-issued peer list. MoonPay has not disclosed product launch dates, pricing, eligibility rules, stablecoin details, reserve arrangements or banking partners, so the approval does not establish that a euro token is already in circulation or that the products have launched.
